Golden State, Baseline Obscenities, and Champagne Papi

On The Court

Golden State

So…what exactly are the Golden State Warriors doing so well? Well, practically everything. They lead the league in points per game, assists per game, blocks per game, three point percentage, free throw percentage, and field goal percentage. That’s like practically every major category. The Houston Rockets lead three pointers made, the Philadelphia 76ers have the most rebounds per game, and OKC has the most steals per game.

Off the Court

Baseline Obscenities

On Friday January 12, an angry fan was removed from the Milwaukee Bucks/Golden State Warriors game after shouting obscenities at Klay Thompson. Thompson was fouled and fell to the floor near where the fan was seated. Thompson told ESPN that the foul words were “unnecessary”. I’ve always thought that the players were too “in the zone” to hear what fans shout, but that hasn’t stopped me from telling Kelly Olynyk “I LOVE YOU!!!” from the second-to-last row of the nosebleeds. I probably would watch what I say if I was sitting courtside, though…

The Court Itself

@Champagne Papi

Speaking of courtside tickets, let’s talk about the KING of sitting courtside and bragging about it: Mr. Champagne Papi himself (aka the famous rap artist Drake for those of you who aren’t hip.) With 39.2 million Instagram followers viewing his posts, Drake often gloats about his involvement with college and NBA basketball. My personal favorites out of his most recent posts on Instagram include him sitting courtside fresh off of a high five with DeMar DeRozen of the Toronto Raptors with the caption “Telling DeMar I need 52 every night til he retires”. Another favorite is a picture of him standing courtside with Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors with the caption “Draymond was roasting my outfit…comment what he said”. Honestly though, there is no hate here because if I had courtside tickets I would be posting pictures of it, too.
