On the Court

Blake Griffin

Let’s talk about Blake Griffin, since he led the Clippers in points with 27 against the New Orleans Pelicans to secure the win on Sunday.  He averages about 23 points per game. He has been with the Clippers for, like, ever (since the 2010-2011 season). I’ve never really liked him, because all of his celebrity dating drama and his stupid commercials with Subway. I also kind of feel bad for him because his dad, Tommy Griffin, was his coach in high school, and we all know how hard that can be. I’ll end that right there…we all know that one kid…

Off the Court

DeMarcus Cousins

The Pelicans All-Star had to be taken off the court after he suffered a horrible injury late Friday night in the fourth quarter. NBA medical professionals immediately assumed that he had torn Achilles tendon as he landed awkwardly on the back of his ankle.  It is now official that he is done for the season with a ruptured Achilles tendon. Paul George will replace him at the All-Star game.

The Court Itself

The Bench

Which team actually utilizes their bench the most by giving their total bench the most playing minutes combined? AKA, to help you better understand how this fits into “The Court Itself” category, which team has their players step off the bench and onto the court the most? We aren’t talking 6th or 7th man here, we are talking about the 23 minutes that the Sacramento Kings bench brings onto the court, which is the highest minutes played by a bench in the league, along with the 47 points they’ve scored. Now for a team like this, who needs as many points as they can get, the numbers make sense. To put it into perspective, the Celtics bench plays about 18 minutes a game. The Minnesota Timberwolves use their bench the least with about 13 minutes a game.
