Buzz Bulletin: The Good, The Bad, and The Really Ugly

Happy Wednesday to everyone except Tristan Thompson! Here’s what happened in the pop culture sports world since we last talked.

Burgeoning Besties

A couple of unlikely hangout sessions went down this weekend, and I can’t decide which one is weirder.

Robert Kraft visited Meek Mill in prison on Tuesday. Kraft and 76s owner Michael Rubin made an appearance at the Pennsylvania prison to advocate for justice reform in the wake of the rapper’s controversial incarceration last month.

The two have been buds for a few years, as Kraft is good friends with Meek’s label owner, Rick Ross. Here’s a pic of the pair in happier times.

“It’s just sad,” said Kraft. “This guy is a great guy and shouldn’t be here.”

Meanwhile, the Dalai Lama appears to have converted to a Green Bay Packers fan after a visit with Aaron Rodgers. Behold this photo, for it is a gift and contains more than I could ever say.

Notorious CMG

UFC 223 was held in Brooklyn this weekend. Thanks to a few injuries and the scheduling turmoil that resulted, it was already off to a rocky start.

Then, Conor McGregor showed up.

The resident bad boy of MMA and a few of his cronies crashed the Barclays Center following the pre-event media conference. The group left so much chaos in their wake that McGregor spent the night behind bars while those caught in the fray spent the night in the hospital.

Video footage shows McGregor attacking a bus containing newly crowned lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov and his team, including Ray Borg and Michael Chiesa, who were both scheduled to fight. “Notorious” himself threw a handcart through the bus window, injuring Borg and Chiesa to the point where they had to be removed from their upcoming matches.

Apparently, Nurmagomedov got into a scuffle with featherweight fighter Artem Lobov in their hotel earlier in the week. The cause of their beef is unclear, but McGregor was quick to have Lobov’s back; the two have been friends since their pre-UFC days training together in Ireland.

McGregor turned himself in to the NYPD and was charged with three misdemeanors and one count of criminal mischief.

Tristan’s In The Doghouse

Tristan Thompson has likely found himself in some pretty hot water at home.

The Cavs forward has become tabloid fodder after TMZ published two videos linking him with multiple women who are decidedly not his very pregnant girlfriend Khloe Kardashian. One video dates back to October (Kardashian would have been about three months along), but the second was on a trip to NYC just last weekend.

After the videos surfaced, the woman that Thompson allegedly spent last weekend with posted some damning evidence of her own. The woman, only known as Stephanie, posted some explicit screenshots and video on her social media before deleting them almost immediately.
