The Vegas Golden Knights phenomenal season continues. They beat the San Jose Sharks 4 games to 2 to move on to the Western Conference final. But, how did an expansion team manage to do this?

I’d say first and foremost is the goaltending. Marc-Andre Fleury has been nothing short of spectacular this season for the Golden Knights. He’s even showing he’s still one of the league’s best goaltenders.

Fleury is playing some of the best hockey of his life. So far this postseason, he is 8-2-0, has a 1.53 GAA and .951 SV% with 4 shutouts. He has been so good and it’s really fun to watch. He makes spectacular save after save and it’s making me think he’s not human.

Fleury gives his team an opportunity to win every night with his spectacular play. Moving on from Fleury though, the team in front of him has also played very well.

The top line of Marchessault, Karlsson, and Smith has been dominant all season long and they continue to show that they’re one of the best top lines in hockey. The three of them combined have amassed 32 points in 10 playoff games so far this postseason. They have been a main reason why the Knights have so much success.

You also can’t forget the play of Alex Tuch, James Neal, and David Perron who are also having a great postseason. These players prove night after night that they can hang with the best in the league.

Moving on to the defense, Nate Schmidt and Shea Theodore have been dominant. They have both gotten themselves on the scoresheet and they both manage to play spectacular defense.

Guys who don’t get on the scoresheet as much, Colin Miller and Deryk Engelland, have also proven highly valuable to the Knights. They make plays when needed and will do anything to help their team.

Moving on to the coach, Gerard Gallant. I can’t think of a better person to coach this team. He’s had a terrific first year behind the Vegas bench and deserves a lot of credit. He’s managed to take a bunch of players other teams didn’t want and turn them into a powerhouse. That’s pretty impressive.

All in all though, this team seems unstoppable. I’m excited to watch them in the future and I can’t wait for the Conference Finals to get going.
