The Eastern Conference Finals

Disclaimer: from here on out, my “On the Court: The East” post will be FULL of bias. #CUsRise. Celtics in 6.

The Boston Celtics and the Cleveland Cavaliers are currently facing off in the 2018 NBA Eastern Conference Finals. For a recap, take a trip down memory lane by reading any of my other Eastern conference posts, but for now, let’s focus on the match up at hand.

On Sunday, the Celtics beat the Cavs 108-83, with a crazy 26-point lead at the half. The Cavs marginalized the point gap a few times, but Celtics’ Coach Brad Stevens (for the formality of this post, I’m going to call him Brad, not Dad) recognized those fluctuations as a routine part of the game. The Cavs had a strong 3rd quarter, outscoring the Celtics with 29 points to the Celtics’ 17, but the effort in the rest of the game by the Celtics sealed the victory.

For those wanting to view first hand: Game 2 will be held in Boston tomorrow, Tuesday May 14 at 8:30pm. Game 3 will be Saturday, May 19 at 8:30pm. Game 4 will be Monday, May 21 at 8:30pm.

My prediction: Celtics in 6. Why? I think the Celtics have the heart, the teamwork, and the young skill to really blow LeBron off his high horse. I do not think that the Celtics can pull a sweep, here, which is why I’m giving this series a couple extra leeway games. As I’ve said before, the fans in Cleveland basically eat out of LeBron’s hands, and the energy in Cleveland is incredible. You’d think he’s their mayor. I think that fan noise may throw the Celtics off. However, the Celtics have held down the parquet at the Garden and remain kings of their own court, meaning they’re undefeated in the playoffs at home. I guarantee a victory for every home game (1,2,5) and The C’s will pull out one victory on the road (3,4 OR 6). I’ll be SHOCKED if we have to play a game 7.
Don’t be discouraged if the Celtics do lose games 3 & 4. I’m seeing a lot of optimistic Twitter talk, some of which I’ll include on Friday’s post. My favorite internet “meme”” right now is the cover for this article. Image via Bleacher Report.
