Jaylen Brown

Today, for Celtics Thursday, I am going to write an article about: Jaylen Brown’s Twitter handle. I’ll throw in some other things that he’s said, too, though. Ya know, to keep it interesting.

Okay, I know what you’re thinking, but it IS important! The way that professional athletes handle themselves in the media is important.

Bill Russell, the retired NBA player who played center for the Celtics from 1956 to 1969, tweeted out a picture of him and Jaylen Brown. The caption read “Forgot I had this pic of me & @FCHWPO”, which is Jaylen Brown’s Twitter handle. Russell goes onto say, “I just have one question, what is FCHWPO??”, then jokes about being old. The dude really is like 84.

To be honest, I hadn’t noticed his handle before. Jaylen Brown politely responded to @RealBillRussell saying “It’s Faith, Consistancy, Hard Work, Pays Off!!” and explains that those are just some words to remind him to “keep going”. He then jokes “I hear you though my man I’m getting up there too” with an upside down smiley face. First off, Jaylen, you’re young, and I know you’re joking, but don’t scare us like that. Second off, I like your message here. It’s certainly better than Kyrie’s wasted time with his flat-earth theory. (Side note, he misspelled consistancy with an “a” instead of an “e” but I still love him…)

In other news with Jaylen Brown: check out this article by Gio Rivera (@SportsGuyGio) explaining how Jaylen Brown’s confidence in Boston reaching the NBA Finals is within reach. For some context: during a podcast interview with C.J. McCollum, Brown said “Oh we’re going to the Finals…no question about it.” I agree with Gio’s analysis here; the Celtics are allowed to have this much confidence, as the Toronto Raptors and the Philadelphia 76ers should be fun to compete against, but are underwhelming threats for the Eastern Conference.

To add one last blurb about things Jaylen has said, I’d like to note his comments on the LeBron/Trump Twitter interactions. In an interview with Emily Chang, Brown said “I think it’s interesting…“I don’t know if it’s propaganda, if it’s for media attention, but it’s interesting to see our president, who’s supposed to be the leader of our troops, handle himself in such a manner.”

Do you like Jaylen Brown?
