Remember back in the beginning of August when I wrote about the rumored Celtics/76ers opening game? Well, basketball fans, the time has finally come! This Tuesday, October 16th, the Celtics will play the 76ers in Boston at the Garden. Anyone have a spare ticket for me? I’ll ask my friend Brad Wanamaker.

There’s a lot of hype surrounding this game as both teams are Eastern Conference powerhouses. The teams both finished last season with incredible winning records (Celtics 55-27 & 76ers 52-30) and had an intense match-up in the play-offs.

The 76ers fell to the Dallas mavericks by 3 points in their most recent match-up on Monday, who they had previously beaten on October 5th. The team will need to sharpen their focus in the Garden and not commit silly mistakes. In their match-up versus the Mavs on Monday, Ben Simmons had 7 turnovers and Markelle Fultz fouled out after 6 points in 4 turnovers in only 19 minutes of play.

The Celtics ended their preseason on a sour note (read my piece from Tuesday here), but everyone expects a solid return to regular season NBA basketball with Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward, including myself. I think Brad Stevens will work his magic in the regular season despite the Celtics’ losing preseason record (1-3).

Also, our name is cooler. Irish people are cooler than the year of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Will the 76ers powerful offense be able to get past the Celtics ranked defense? Comment below!
