The College Football Playoff National Championship game was the talk of social media on Monday night when viewers tuned in to watch Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide take on Dabo Sweeney’s Clemson Tigers.
Much to the dismay of their vocal fan base, Alabama’s theme for the evening was more “roll over” than “roll tide.” Clemson didn’t just beat Bama in the title game for the second time in three years—they embarrassed them, winning 44-16.

Clemson’s quarterback Trevor Lawrence put on a show, and he’s already got NFL executives drooling. The freshman QB completed 20 passes out of 32 attempts, totaling 347 yards (not including his 27 rushing yards) with three touchdowns and no sacks or turnovers. Lawrence sliced Alabama’s defense wide open and made it look easy—no simple feat.

Lawrence would almost certainly be the top pick if he were to enter the 2019 NFL draft. However, the 19-year-old is a true freshman (the first in twelve years to beat a Saban-led team in any game), and he won’t be eligible to enter the draft until 2021—three years after graduating from high school.
When I was 19, I was shlepping fajitas for tips at a Chili’s in downtown Boston, but it’s fine.
Bears kicker Cody Parkey had a rough weekend.
Tom told us about how Chicago’s playoff hopes went up in flames on Sunday when Parkey’s potentially game-winning kick was tipped just enough to cause the double doink that will go down in NFL history. Parkey has received much of the blame (unjustly) and has bebecome acapegoat for frustrated Chicago fans.
However, from the ashes of Parkey’s professional dignity arose some excellent Twitter content.

It’s only 6 days old, but Cody Parkey is already having the worst 2019.

It’s gonna take more than $8 to buy enough beer to erase the memory of that game.
Living The Dream
A helicopter caught someone in Kansas City using Kauffman Stadium’s big screen for what appeared to be an epic round of Mario Kart.
we sent our helicopter out to get aerials of Arrowhead Stadium and on its way there it noticed a game of Mario Kart had broken out on the Crown Vision board at Kauffman Stadium?? pic.twitter.com/rOy0icieVi
