Ladies and gentlemen, we have gathered here today to talk about the Met Gala.
Our favorite annual super-extra display of fashion took place on Monday evening, and it was even more gloriously flamboyant than usual. Which is saying something, considering the fact that last year Rihanna showed up dressed as a sparkly, sexy pope.
The theme for this year’s gala: “Camp: Notes on Fashion”. This was inspired by a 1964 Susan Sontag essay that described camp as a “love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration”. This brought out a ton of outrageously fabulous takes from those with the cash and connections to score a seat at the party.
Some of our fave and not-so-fave (looking at you, A-Rod) athletes showed up to the party, all dressed to the flippin’ nines. Let’s take a look.
Tom and Gisele (and Jules?)
The GOATs were glamorous in burgundy and pink (if not all that campy).

Gisele’s blush-colored gown was created by Dior out of sustainable materials. We stan an eco-friendly power couple.
Hilariously, Julian Edelman tagged along to the party with his Cool Older Friends, and looked drool-worthy (as always) in a white suit.

Odell Beckham Jr.
Cleveland’s newest superstar Odell Beckham Jr. showed up to the event dressed in a Thom Brown kilt, combat boots, and a tuxedo shirt/jacket combo with the sleeves cut off. And…somehow he pulled it off?

Truly, only OBJ could work this.
A-Rod and JLo
The New York power couple were flashy in their pink carpet appearance, with JLo rocking an ultra-blingy Versace gown and headpiece and A-Rod looking dapper in pink.

Serena Williams
The Queen of Tennis showed up in an extravagant yellow dress and a pair of neon Nike sneakers. Because, of course she did.

The dress (which Twitter amazingly compared to a plate of scrambled eggs with ham and now I can’t unsee it), was created by Versace and adorned with Swarovski crystals.
As if she wasn’t fabulous enough, Serena ditched the detachable skirt and sneakers later in the evening, opting for these thigh-high boots which are. Absolutely. Sending. Me.

Cam Newton
Since Cam Newton’s day-to-day styles are something to be admired, I couldn’t wait to find out what he rocked to the biggest night in fashion. And oh man, Cam did not disappoint in his Ralph Lauren getup.

The best part is, he can totally re-wear this entire outfit any day and it would absolutely not be out of place for him.
Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union
I’m always blown away by how freaking cool Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union look at the Met Gala, and this year was no exception.

The duo was dressed in Dundas literally from head to toe, and totally nailed the theme.
