Clyde Edwards-Helaire Making Waves

Younger players are often secret weapons for teams on offense and defense.  Unlikely to draw attention from opposing coordinators, these guys make a big difference for their teams before they become full-blown stars at the NFL level.

Offense: Clyde Edwards-Helaire

Running Back – Kansas City Chiefs

138 yards, rushing TD

Full honesty up front.  I wasn’t sure about how well Edwards-Helaire would fit in Kansas City, not knowing how he’d mesh with the Chiefs electric, pass-first offense.  I did not anticipate him stepping in and stepping up in game one, toting the rock twenty-five times and averaging five-and-a-half yards per carry.  So, yeah.  Got that very wrong.  The former LSU Tiger fits perfectly in the Kansas City offense, adding a dynamic rushing element that will keep opposing defenses off balance no matter the down and distance. He’s not a bruiser, but he’s low and powerful, and has a ton of spin and juke moves in his bag of tricks.  He’ll be exciting to watch develop as pass catching back as well.  He was targeted twice in week one with no receptions.
