#1 CLEMSON vs #4 Notre Dame

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish hosts the Clemson Tigers on Saturday, November 7 at 7:30 PM ET. Both teams come into this game with a record of 6-0.

The Fighting Irish are coming off a win over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 31-13. The Irish were led by running back Kyren Williams who had 80 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Clemson Tigers got a hard fought win over the Boston College Eagles 34-28. The Tigers were led by Quarterback DJ Uiagalelei’s 342 yards and 2 TDs. In that game the Tigers were down 28-13 at the half before outscoring the Eagles 21-0 in the second half.

After the BC game, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said that QB Trevor Lawrence would remain out of the Notre Dame game after having COVID-19. As a result, Uiagalelei will be starting in his second career game this week vs the Irish.

This is the fourth time that the Irish and the Tigers are facing each other with Clemson owning a 3-1 record. The Tigers most recently beat the Irish 30-3 in the 2018 College Football Semifinal. In that game, Notre Dame QB Ian Book threw of 160 and an interception.

Key for Clemson

Get big chunk plays through the air: Notre Dame’s secondary is one of the best in the nation only allowing teams to have a completion percentage of 52.2%. However, Nick McCloud, Kyle Hamilton and TariQ Bracey haven’t faced an explosive offensive like Clemson’s this season.

 Key for Notre Dame:

Protect Ian Book and Kyren Williams: Notre Dame’s offense average 34.8 points per game this season, good for 5th in the ACC. The Irish offensive line is a veteran group that has allowed Ian Book to stay upright so far this season, only allowing 11 sacks this season. As a result, Ian Book has thrown for 1,225 yards and 7 touchdowns and has rushed for 617 yards and 7 touchdowns. If Notre Dame wants to win they have to avoid getting into long yardage situations and get a clean pocket for Notre Dame to work, against a front seven led by Myles Murphy’s 3.5 sacks this season.

Prediction: Clemson wins 41-28
