Throughout the WNBA season, I’ll be highlighting players who’ve made their mark each week, off and on the court. Utilizing the Down Low Database, my collection of player profiles, we’ll learn all about the athletes who often don’t receive enough coverage in major outlets.
Week 4: Rachel Banham
Rachel is a 5’10 guard out of Minnesota. Originally drafted by the Connecticut Sun in 2016, Rachel was traded to the Minnesota Lynx ahead of the 2020 season. She has been back in her home state ever since.
How She Made Her Mark this Week
RayBan absolutely refused to miss a shot this week, including recording a perfect game against Atlanta, dropping 13 points on 5 for 5 shooting.
You absolutely love to see a player coming off the bench making the most of every minute she’s on the court. While Rachel only averaged 15 minutes of playing time, she used those minutes effectively, averaging 10.3 points per game and a net rating of +12. RayBan did end up missing a few shots, but she ended the week shooting 9 for 11 from the three-point range and an overall field goal percentage of 73.3. That’s deadly.
Rachel’s sharp shooting helped the Minnesota Lynx win two of their three games this week, bringing them up to 8th in the standings. I will be watching out for this sniper in the weeks to come.
