The Atlanta Dream are coming off a tough loss to the Dallas Wings on Thursday 72-68. Courtney Williams led the Dream in scoring with 5 points on 11-23 shooting from the field. Monique Billings added 15 points of her own. Atlanta has dropped ten straight games and 13 of its last 14 outings. The losing streak, which began after a 73-69 win at home against New York on June 29, has dropped the Dream into a tie for last place in the league standings with Indiana.

Rebound Better

The Dream was outrebounded 43 to 34 in total, but it was the Wings’ 14 offensive rebounds that did the most damage on the score sheet. That’s just way too many second chance points to allow. Dallas did not shoot well from the field, but the additional shot attempts were a factor in their victory. Atlanta must do a better job of boxing out and have their guards crash the boards to help the bigs rebound. The Dream have struggled to rebound all season long, so it’s a known problem that they’ll continue to work on.

Take Care of the Ball

Atlanta had a whopping 14 turnovers on Thursday night. That’s just too many extra possessions to give the other team. Taking care of the ball will be vital to snapping the losing streak. It is up to Atlanta’s ball handlers to get the job done.

More From Elizabeth Williams

Williams played 31 minutes and grabbed six rebounds, and blocked four shots, but she must be more of a factor in the scoring column. You can not have just three points in 31 minutes played. Williams will need to be more aggressive down the stretch to make the most of her time on the court.

Odyssey Sims and Aari McDonald Must Play Well

Sims and McDonald combined for 10 points on 4-16 shooting from the field. However, Atlanta will need more from their two point guards. Both Sims and McDonald must be aggressive and attack the paint.
